They met while in service at Tapeley Park, near Westleigh in North Devon, but moved to Barnes in South-West London, where Jim worked on the Southern Railway, eventually as a signalman. |

| Comments: | I have never heard the theory that Tolley was originally a Nordic (Viking) name meaning tax collector. But this theory makes a hell of a lot of sense to me. Because my Grandad originally came from the Hull/Humber area of England. Which is one of the main areas where the vikings settled in England.Thank you for making me want to trace my family tree. |
